MUSCAT : According to the federation, 12 cases involving individual and collective worker complaints were formally handled during the month, including mediation and negotiation sessions. Of these, 5 cases were resolved, 3 were referred to court, and 4 cases remain under follow-up.
The report also highlighted 26 mass layoffs from a single company, which the federation is monitoring closely.
The GFOW also responded to 87 legal inquiries and consultations covering different issues. Key among them were wages, leave entitlements, working hours, project transfers, project completion, economic conditions, contract termination, demands for improved working conditions, and formation of trade unions.
In addition, October saw continued progress in labour representation: two new trade unions were formed, and seven existing unions completed alignment with legal requirements, strengthening collective bargaining structures across the workforce.
