MUSCAT : The inaugural TAS Interschool Badminton Tournament 2025 concluded with a spectacular finish on Saturday, November 22, as Indian School Ghubra (ISG) mounted a fierce comeback to claim the championship title, lifting the coveted Ever-Rolling Trophy in an atmosphere charged with emotion, excitement, and raw sporting brilliance.

Organised by The Arabian Stories (TAS) in partnership with Morning Stars Badminton Club, the two-day event has already carved its place as a landmark in Oman’s school sports calendar. The tournament kicked off on November 21 with a blistering schedule, 108 matches on Day 1 alone, as nearly 150 participants battled across fast-paced courts in almost 150 matches.

Day 2 delivered the decisive showdowns, featuring boys’ and girls’ finals in the Under-13 and Under-17 categories. With ISM and ISG locked in an intense points race throughout the day, the title hung in balance until the final stretch.

Just when ISM appeared poised to edge ahead, ISG’s U17 boys ignited the comeback of the tournament, unleashing a fierce, disciplined performance that levelled the scores and reignited hopes. The momentum surged into the final match, where ISG’s U13 girls delivered a dominant, commanding display to seal the school’s victory, sparking jubilant celebrations from their roaring cheer squad.

ISG’s consistency across categories, coupled with their remarkable final push, not only handed them the championship but also secured them the Nataraj-sponsored Cheerleading Award for their spirited, electrifying support throughout the event.

The tournament, powered by strong backing from partners and sponsors, also saw significant contributions from Badr Al Samaa (Healthcare Partner) and Hyundai (Automotive Partner), with further support from Supa Sportsman, Modern Business Enterprise LLC, Oman Refreshments, Easy Store & Easy Care, Cumin Caterings, Kosmos Badminton Academy, and Maple Graphics.

Reflecting on the thrilling competition, top U17 performer Atharv Parsekar said, “The experience was amazing, the teams were great and the competition was extremely fierce. I wish to pursue this sport professionally.”

ISG Coach, Vijayan Mani Rao, added, “Our students did a wonderful job, they worked hard, gave their best, and even during exam time, the management supported them. The competition was fierce, but we won the finals and the trophy.”
