MANAMA – This came within the framework of the Interior Minister’s official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Minister of Interior was accompanied during the visit by His Excellency Gen. Sheikh Rashed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior of Bahrain. Upon their arrival at the complex, they were received by a number of senior officials from the Bahraini Ministry of Interior.
At the beginning of the visit, Oman’s Minister of Interior listened to a comprehensive introductory briefing presented by the Open Prisons’ management. The briefing covered the objectives of these correctional facilities and their role in rehabilitating inmates and preparing them for integration into society after the completion of their sentences.

The briefing included a presentation of the administration’s initiatives in the fields of education, vocational training, and psychological and social rehabilitation, in addition to reviewing the procedures followed to ensure the rights of inmates and provide a humane correctional environment that adheres to the standards of justice and dignity, in line with humanitarian principles and best international practices in this field.
Following this, he conducted a field tour of the administration’s facilities, which included training workshops, education halls, and various service facilities.
His Excellency Al Busaidi lauded the advanced administrative organisation and quality programmes he witnessed, which reflect the great attention the Kingdom of Bahrain accords to developing the correctional work system. He pointed to the importance of continuing the exchange of visits and expertise to contribute to the advancement of the correctional work system and the efficiency of prison management, thereby serving mutual interests.
He was accompanied during the visit by Maj. Gen Abdullah bin Ali Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations, His Excellency Sayyid Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Interior.
