MUSCAT – The Ministry indicated that it has noticed that some social media accounts and electronic websites that are promoting unlicensed tourism establishments, such as hotels, rest houses and green inns that have not been approved by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
This practice constitutes a violation of Clause 13 of Article 9 of the Regulation Governing the Practice of Marketing and Promotion on Electronic Websites and Social Media Platforms (Ministerial Decision No. 2022/619), which stipulates: “It is prohibited to market or promote any goods or services that require prior approval from the competent authorities, or for unlicensed projects, or counterfeit goods.”
The Ministry emphasised the importance of compliance with the regulation and warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found promoting unlicensed establishments or services.
