MUSCAT : In his address, His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended to him and the accompanying delegation, saying:
“We have received from you the key to this magnificent city with a hand of contentment and acceptance, appreciating your overflowing sentiment toward us and toward our country, the Sultanate of Oman. Indeed, this noble initiative from you is evidence that the capital of your country—and your country in general—welcomes everyone, as it is a haven for tourists, writers, thinkers, and artists who flock to it from around the world for its ancient history, unique architecture, excellent services, and captivating beauty.”
His Majesty added: “We look forward to strengthening the relations between the wonderful city of Madrid and Muscat, the capital of our country. We are filled with great hope that this will lead to mutual benefit from the experiences of both cities in various fields, in a manner that contributes to the development and consolidation of relations between our two countries.”
His Majesty the Sultan also praised the local administrative system in Madrid, commending the effective role played by local leadership in managing and overseeing the city’s operations.
Following the speech, His Majesty graciously signed the Distinguished Visitors’ Register and was presented with two commemorative medals engraved with his name, in appreciation of his visit.
Later, His Majesty attended a welcoming ceremony at the Spanish Senate, where the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives delivered speeches expressing their profound welcome and admiration for His Majesty’s visit, emphasizing the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Spain.
In his address before the Spanish Parliament, His Majesty stated: “We feel immense joy at this opportunity to address your esteemed Council in its two chambers—the Senate and the House of Representatives—which represent the friendly Spanish people, for whom we hold great respect and appreciation. We cherish with them a historical friendship based on mutual respect and fruitful cooperation, a friendship that time has proven steadfast and resilient, qualifying it for further progress.”
