MUSCAT – The ceremony was attended by a number of prominent figures and institutions from the global tourism sector.

The award recognises the remarkable success and growing prominence of the Dhofar Khareef season in recent years, both regionally and internationally, owing to its unique natural beauty and exceptional climate that make Dhofar a year-round tourism destination.

His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, told the Oman News Agency that this achievement reflects the increasing global recognition of the Dhofar Khareef season and highlights the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to promote sustainable tourism development. He emphasized that the Khareef season has become a model for integrated tourism management, combining effective planning, organization, and cooperation between government bodies, the private sector, and the local community.

His Highness added that “the Dhofar Khareef season has become synonymous with Oman’s natural and cultural diversity, offering visitors a unique tourism experience that blends scenic landscapes with cultural and recreational events, supported by advanced infrastructure.” He further noted that this award strengthens confidence in Dhofar’s ability to solidify its position as a leading regional and international tourist destination.

The representative of Dhofar Municipality, who received the award, explained that this international recognition is the result of collaborative efforts among various stakeholders in the governorate. He noted that the London Arab Foundation based its selection on a range of qualitative indicators, including the season’s rising international appeal, the diversity of cultural, environmental, and entertainment activities, and the quality of tourism infrastructure and services.

He added that the award also underscores the international community’s appreciation for Oman’s efforts to preserve its natural environment and biodiversity, which form the cornerstone of Dhofar Municipality’s sustainable tourism strategy.
His Excellency Azzan bin Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, highlighted that the Ministry had implemented a comprehensive promotional campaign for the Dhofar Khareef 2025 season under the slogan ‘Your Summer is Green’. The campaign included marketing activities across local and Gulf markets and mobile exhibitions in several Gulf capitals, showcasing Dhofar’s natural and cultural attractions. The digital campaign reached approximately six million views.
He also noted the opening of new hotel facilities this year, increasing the governorate’s total accommodation capacity to more than 8,000 rooms, further supporting its tourism growth.
It is worth noting that the London Arabia Organisation is one of the United Kingdom’s leading institutions in promoting cultural and civilizational dialogue between the Arab world and the international community. It organizes several prestigious annual events, including the Arab Woman Award, London Art and Fashion Week, and the Arab Tourism and Travel Awards, which recognize distinguished achievements and initiatives in the tourism industry across the Arab and international arenas.
