GUANGZHOU : A high-level delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), accompanied by a select group of Omani business leaders, has concluded its official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The mission included participation in the first and second phases of the renowned Canton Fair, as well as visits to several factories and enterprises in the Shufan Industrial Zone covering sectors such as plastics, aluminum, sanitary ware, and furniture.

This visit marked one of the largest Omani delegations to participate in the Canton Fair since its inception, underscoring OCCI’s commitment to empowering the private sector and expanding Oman’s international trade footprint particularly with China, the Sultanate’s leading trading partner.

Engineer Hamoud bin Salem Al Saadi, Vice Chairman of OCCI and Chairman of the Chamber’s South Al Batinah branch, stated that the visit reflects the Chamber’s strategy to build direct connections with major global markets like China. “Strengthening industrial and commercial cooperation and exploring trade and import opportunities will contribute significantly to the growth of the national economy and support Oman’s development goals,” he said.

Engineer Saeed bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of OCCI’s North Al Batinah branch, noted that the delegation’s field visits to factories in the Shufan area provided valuable insights into China’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and technological innovations. “These engagements open up promising opportunities for strategic partnerships and broader trade and investment collaboration between Oman and China,” he added.

The week-long visit, held from October 17 to 24, featured meetings between Omani and Chinese business representatives aimed at exchanging expertise and exploring joint investment opportunities in the industrial and commercial sectors. The Chinese side was also invited to attend the Sohar Investment Forum, scheduled to take place in North Al Batinah in February 2026.

Concluding the visit, the delegation emphasized the importance of leveraging international experiences, fostering innovation, and translating the outcomes of this mission into actionable initiatives to enhance Oman’s business and industrial ecosystem.
