MUSCAT – The settlement is part of the Authority’s continued efforts to uphold consumer rights and ensure fair business practices in accordance with Oman Vision 2040.
The case originated from a complaint lodged by a consumer who reported that he had entered into an agreement with the establishment to carry out concrete works for his house under construction. As part of the agreement, the consumer paid an advance of OMR 400. However, the company reportedly breached the terms of the contract, delivering work that failed to meet the agreed-upon specifications.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Consumer Protection Department initiated an investigation and took the necessary legal and administrative steps. As a result, a settlement was reached between the two parties, which included the termination of the contract. The commercial establishment agreed to refund a total of OMR 1,000 to the complainant.
The Consumer Protection Authority reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Authority also emphasized the importance of ethical practices among suppliers and contractors, in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. These goals focus on fostering a fair, sustainable, and transparent economic and social system that protects consumer rights, promotes integrity and accountability, and encourages cooperation among all stakeholders.
