MUSCAT – The trial period will run from October 19 to November 13, 2025.
Explaining the concept of Central Number Portability System, the TRA stated that it is an integrated and centralised digital platform that enables telecom users to switch between service providers without changing their existing mobile or fixed-line numbers. The system promises automated, simplified procedures that allow the entire switching process to be completed within minutes.
The TRA pointed out that this initiative is designed to empower consumers, foster fair competition, and promote service quality in the telecommunications market.
According to the TRA, the pilot phase aims to:
• Test technical and procedural readiness of the new system
• Ensure a smooth and reliable user experience for beneficiaries
• Analyse system performance and address any operational challenges
