Muscat – An Omani court has fined and jailed employees from the Environment Authority and a telecommunications company in separate bribery and fraud cases, the state audit watchdog said on Sunday.

Two Environment Authority officials were fined more than RO 71,000 and sentenced to between six months and one year in prison, the State Audit Institution (SAI) said in a statement. The court also dismissed them from their posts and banned them from holding public office.

In a separate case, an employee of a telecommunications firm was fined more than RO 111,000 over offences related to bribery and embezzlement, the SAI added.

The rulings are part of Oman’s wider efforts to tighten public-sector oversight and reinforce anti-corruption measures under the country’s transparency and accountability framework.
