MUSCAT: — The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has detained several individuals in North Al Batinah Governorate after a video circulating on social media showed them recklessly driving their vehicles through a flooded wadi in the Wilayat of Khabourah, endangering both themselves and others.
According to a statement issued by the ROP, the individuals were identified and stopped following the circulation of the video, which clearly depicted their disregard for public safety during the flow of the wadi. The police confirmed that the drivers and their companions were exposed to severe danger due to their actions.
“The North Al Batinah Police Command arrested several persons after a visual clip showed their recklessness in driving their vehicles through a wadi stream in the Wilayat of Khabourah during its flow, putting themselves and their companions at risk,” the ROP said in a statement on X.

The police added that legal procedures are being completed against the detained individuals, reaffirming that such behavior will not be tolerated as it poses a direct threat to life and public safety.
The ROP has repeatedly warned citizens and residents against crossing or approaching wadis during rainfall or flooding, emphasizing that violations of safety regulations will result in legal accountability.
