MUSCAT – The company stated that it has closely followed the discussions surrounding the video, which contains what it described as “inaccurate and misleading allegations.” Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, public accountability, and professional integrity, Karwa Motors provided a point-by-point clarification addressing each claim raised.
- Fuel Consumption
The video alleged that Karwa school buses consume excessive diesel fuel. In response, the company clarified that its buses are built with a high-strength steel frame for enhanced passenger safety and equipped with a fully integrated roof-mounted air conditioning system. These features may result in a marginally higher fuel consumption compared to lighter buses lacking such safety and comfort measures. - Window Design and Ventilation
Regarding claims that the windows are “tightly sealed” and hinder ventilation, Karwa Motors explained that sealed side windows are a global safety standard designed to protect students from external hazards and prevent accidents such as falling or protruding limbs. The buses are compliant with international ventilation standards (ASHRAE) and are fitted with central air conditioning, internal air circulation systems, and upper emergency vents. The company emphasized that opening windows is not considered a safe or healthy alternative and should not be used to reduce operating costs at the expense of student welfare.
In case of air conditioning malfunctions, Karwa stated that it provides replacement buses if repairs cannot be promptly completed, with all AC units covered under a three-year warranty. - After-Sales Service and Warranty
The company refuted claims that maintenance coverage only extends to 5,000 km, asserting that Karwa offers free maintenance for up to 20,000 km, with original spare parts available for at least 10 years. The warranty on Karwa school buses has also been extended from three to five years. Additionally, the company offers mobile maintenance services, free pre-semester inspections, and has 23 service centres across Oman, with plans for further expansion. - Road Stability
In response to comments about the buses’ road stability, Karwa Motors acknowledged that a limited technical issue was identified during the early rollout phase. However, it confirmed that the issue was quickly addressed under warranty in coordination with relevant authorities, and that the buses now meet high standards of road safety and performance. - Customer Feedback and Communication
Contrary to the video’s claim that the company does not respond to feedback, Karwa stated that it operates a dedicated customer service center that actively communicates with bus operators and addresses all comments. The company also collaborates closely with government stakeholders to ensure prompt response and resolution of any concerns. - Country of Manufacture
Addressing assertions that the buses are “Chinese-made,” Karwa clarified that its manufacturing and assembly operations are carried out locally at the Karwa Automobile Factory in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, Sultanate of Oman. The company follows international industrial practices consistent with those used by major global bus manufacturers. - Commitment to Safety and Quality
Karwa Motors emphasised that student safety remains the top priority. The buses are designed according to the latest international safety standards to provide a safe transportation environment, including: compliance with the standard for resistance to shattering structures in accidents; emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and emergency glass-breaking hammers; advanced braking systems, safety doors, and seats equipped with seat belts; and surveillance devices and cameras to ensure the safety of students during trips.
“Karwa Motors reaffirms its full commitment to providing safe and reliable buses that serve the people of this dear nation, and that it will continue to develop its products and services to enhance confidence in the national industry and make school transportation in the Sultanate of Oman a model of safety and reliability. Karwa Motors Company: Your safety is a trust… and our quality is a commitment,” the statement concluded.
