Muscat – The project is funded by Oman LNG Company and Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO).
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and on behalf of the company, Dr. Amer Nasser Al Muta’ani, Chief Executive Officer of Oman LNG Development Foundation. The signing was attended by His Excellency Dr. Yahya Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah.
Nazar Salim Al Araimi, Director of the Environment Department in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, explained that the agreement aims to transform Al Saleel Natural Park Reserve into an environmental tourism destination that embodies the balance between preserving natural heritage and achieving sustainable economic development. It is based on the careful utilization of areas within the reserve, maintaining its environment while providing educational and tourism activities that enrich the visitor experience.

In a statement to Oman News Agency, he said: “The project includes a package of facilities and structures, most notably a main building, a fully equipped veterinary clinic, and a series of enclosures designated for birds, wildlife, and special and quarantine species, in addition to various service and informational facilities.”
The project is expected to yield several benefits, including the conservation of natural habitats and the protection of wildlife and vegetation, especially endangered species. It will also activate the tourism sector in the governorate, create job opportunities linked to tourism and the environment, stimulate small and medium enterprises, and raise environmental awareness by providing an educational and informative space for all segments of society, especially students and those interested in environmental conservation.
Al Saleel Natural Park Reserve in the Wilayat of Al Kamil Wal Wafi, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, is distinguished by its vast and diverse environment of indigenous trees and various animals, such as the Arabian Gazelle. It spans an area of 220 square kilometres.
