MUSCAT : Held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sayyid Numair bin Salim Al Said, the conference, hosted by The Arabian Stories (TAS), brings together top financial experts, policymakers, and banking leaders to discuss the growing role of Sharia-compliant systems under the theme ‘Islamic Financial Transactions and Economic Stability’.

Organised with the support of Bank Nizwa as the powering sponsor, and in partnership with Meethaq Islamic Banking and Ahli Islamic, along with Credit Oman as supporting partner, the conference is drawing high-level participation from across the financial ecosystem, including banking executives, policymakers, economists, and regulators.

The day began with registration, the Sultanate’s national anthem, and an introductory film that framed the forum’s core themes.

In his welcome address, Omair bin Mohammed Al Julandani, Business Development Manager at TAS for Electronic Media, emphasised the continuity and progression from the forum’s inaugural edition. “Today, we build upon the outcomes of the first session to move forward in achieving the goals of this forum,” said Al Julandani.

“Foremost among them are enhancing the exchange of knowledge and experiences among Sharia, financial, and banking institutions; supporting digital transformation in the Islamic banking sector toward a more efficient future; and exploring opportunities for integration between Waqf (Endowment), investment, and Takaful (Islamic insurance) as tools to maximize impact,” he added.

The conference features two major panel discussions. The first, titled ‘Open Banking and Digital Transformation Shaping the Future of Islamic Finance’, examined the sector’s ongoing digital evolution. Moderated by Ahmed Hamdan Al Farsi, it included insights from Mohammed Bin Hamed Al Hashmi (Bank Nizwa), Zainab Mustafa Al Lawati (Ahli Islamic), Issa Al Suqri (Meethaq Islamic Banking), and Sheikh Khalil Bin Ahmed Al-Harthy (Credit Oman).
