NEW YORK : His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscored the depth of historical ties linking Oman, the GCC states, and the UK. He highlighted growing collaboration across defense, security, trade, renewable energy, logistics, and communications, calling these partnerships vital for the stability and prosperity of both regions.
Beyond existing ties, His Excellency pointed to new avenues in education, technology, and culture, noting that such fields represent “broader horizons” for future cooperation.
The GCC ministers expressed optimism for the success of ongoing free trade agreement negotiations with the UK. His Excellency stressed that such a deal would serve as a robust framework to unlock the full potential of economic partnerships, facilitating investment flows and expanding trade already valued in billions of dollars annually.

He also recalled the July meeting between His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, describing it as a clear reflection of the depth of bilateral consultations and shared understanding between the two nations.
The meeting also carried a strong political message. Oman and its GCC counterparts welcomed the United Kingdom’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine, calling it a significant step toward justice and a cornerstone for advancing the two-state solution.
His Excellency emphasized that Israeli violations and extremist policies under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must be countered through bold, practical measures, including halting military cooperation and pressing Israel toward a genuine peace process. He asserted that true security and peace can only be achieved by empowering Palestinians with their right to self-determination and statehood.
Warning against external attempts to impose leadership on the Palestinian people, he stated such actions risk deepening the crisis rather than resolving it.
