MONTREAL : The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority, signed three bilateral air transport agreements, Monday, September 22, 2025, with the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly, held in Montreal, Canada.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed with the Arab Republic of Egypt, aimed at enhancing cooperation in civil aviation and expanding operating rights for national airlines.

The agreements and MoU were signed on behalf of Oman by H.E. Eng. Naif bin Ali bin Hamad Al-Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, who emphasized that these initiatives reflect Oman’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its position as a regional logistics hub, in support of national objectives and in furtherance of economic and trade ties with partner states.

He clarified that the bilateral agreements will enhance the overall framework governing air transport relations between Oman and the respective countries, incorporating technical and regulatory provisions as well as detailed schedules of air routes available to carriers operating flights between the parties.

The MoU specifically provide for expanded operating rights for the Omani national carriers and increased frequencies on routes between Oman and Egypt. This is expected to boost air traffic flows, enhance connectivity, and create greater opportunities for passenger and cargo transport, alongside associated aviation services.

It is noteworthy that Oman is currently party to air services agreements with 130 countries worldwide, underscoring its continued commitment to opening new horizons for partnership and economic integration, supporting the growth of its national airlines, and promoting tourism and investment exchanges with global partners.
