MONTREAL – The agreements were signed with the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. An MoU was also signed with the Arab Republic of Egypt to enhance civil aviation cooperation and expand operating rights for national airlines.

The agreements and memorandum of understanding were signed by His Excellency Eng. Nayef bin Ali Al Abri, President of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority, and His Excellency Omar Hisham al-Hussary, chief of Syria’s General Authority for Civil Aviation; His Excellency Bafétigué OUATTARA, Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Canada and its Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO); His Excellency Egbert Field, Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority; and His Excellency Captain Amr Elsharkawy, President of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority.

His Excellency Eng. Al Abri noted that the agreements provide a regulatory framework for air transport relations between Oman and these friendly nations. They include technical and legal provisions, along with route schedules that govern the operation of flights between the respective countries.

He added that the MoU with Egypt includes provisions to increase flight frequencies and expand operating rights for national carriers, which is expected to boost air traffic and create broader opportunities for transportation, logistics, and associated services.

These agreements are part of Oman’s broader efforts to strengthen its role as a regional logistics hub, in line with national objectives to enhance economic and trade relations with partner countries.
It’s worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman currently has air transport agreements with 130 countries around the world, as part of its ongoing efforts to open new horizons for partnership and economic integration, support national airlines in expanding their operational networks, and enhance tourism and investment exchange with various countries.
