MUSCAT — Oman’s Ministry of Labour has confirmed that the wage support initiative will now be implemented on an annual basis, with the expanded allocation expected to create or sustain more than 25,000 jobs for Omanis each year.
Under His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s directive, the funding for the programme has been doubled to RO 100 million, ensuring greater support for private sector hiring and long-term employment growth.
His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, said the decision reflects His Majesty’s vision for a stronger, more competitive workforce. “This initiative embodies His Majesty’s commitment to empowering citizens and strengthening the private sector’s role in national development,” he said in an interview with Shabab Radio.

The Minister added that the expanded funding will help balance employer needs with career security for citizens. “By sustaining more than 25,000 jobs annually, we are reinforcing Oman’s labour market competitiveness and providing real, lasting opportunities for our people,” he noted.
