Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has directed the doubling of funds allocated to support employment initiatives in the private sector, underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering Omani job seekers and boosting workforce participation.

Chairing the Council of Ministers, His Majesty ordered that the budget for employment support programs particularly the wage support initiative — be raised to OMR 100 million, doubling the previously approved amount.

In its meeting, the Council of Ministers also emphasized the importance of developing the National Employment Platform “Tawteen”. The Council stressed the need to increase the number of companies registered on the platform and to complete the integration of related databases, ensuring that its data can be fully utilized to generate job opportunities for citizens.

Launched in December 2024, the Tawteen platform provides comprehensive data on job supply and demand, lists available vacancies in both the public and private sectors, and offers updated information on job seekers. By strengthening its use and reach, the platform is expected to play a central role in connecting Omanis with employment opportunities and supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
