MUSCAT : The Social Protection Fund (SPF) has reassured citizens that widow pensions will continue to be disbursed without interruption, denying recent rumours suggesting their suspension from 2026.

In a statement, SPF emphasized that reports circulating about the discontinuation of pensions for widows are “incorrect.” It stressed that all eligible beneficiaries will continue to receive their entitlements, as part of the SPF’s commitment to strengthening the social protection system.

SPF underlined that maintaining these pensions is crucial to ensuring stability and security for families who depend on them.

Authorities also urged the public to rely only on the Fund’s official channels for accurate information, warning against misinformation circulating on social media.
