MUSCAT – The initiative, part of the Ministry’s efforts to preserve intangible cultural heritage and enhance its presence among younger generations, aims to employ modern technologies to revive Omani cultural heritage through the application of Omani folk games.

Speaking about the initiative, Salwa bint Saif Al Rashidi, Supervisor of the Children’s Culture Centre, said: “The center has been working on various digital projects over the past period to achieve its vision of raising a generation proud of its cultural and national identity, with skills and capabilities that keep pace with technological and scientific changes. Among these projects is the application of traditional Omani games such as ‘Al Anbar’ and ‘Al Sayyad’, two popular games in 3D technology using an advanced engine.”

The games have been designed to reflect authentic Omani settings, blending cultural preservation with innovation. The initiative also aims to digitally document traditional games, introduce them in entertaining formats, and promote problem-solving and creative thinking among children.

The project aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the national cultural strategy, which emphasize the importance of consolidating cultural identity, promoting heritage, and spreading awareness both locally and internationally.

Omani culture, deeply rooted in history and heritage, serves as a bridge between the past and the future, embodying values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace. The centre affirmed its commitment to expanding this digital heritage initiative by developing and digitising more Omani folk games in the near future.
