GENEVA : Delivering Oman’s statement, His Excellency Ambassador Idris bin Abdulrahman Al-Khanjari, the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva, condemned in the “strongest terms” what he described as a brutal Israeli attack on the State of Qatar. He warned that such actions represent “a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.”
Oman’s intervention came as the Council discussed reports by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, including updates from the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The Sultanate criticized Israeli practices against both sovereign states and occupied peoples, calling them clear violations of international law. Oman emphasized the urgent need for a unified global stance to protect civilians, uphold justice, and limit the use of force.

Expressing deep concern over the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and settlement expansion in the West Bank, Oman warned that Israel’s recent political rhetoric denying Palestinians’ right to statehood reflects “a dangerous trend toward annexation.” The statement noted that such actions directly threaten prospects for a just and lasting peace.
Oman also underscored that double standards and selective approaches undermine the legitimacy of the international system, urging urgent international measures to hold violators accountable and to safeguard the Palestinians’ inalienable right to establish a fully sovereign state.
