Muscat: According to the report, municipalities across the governorate intensified field campaigns during the first half of the year, focusing on food safety, water quality, and professional activities. Inspections revealed violations, forced closures of non-compliant facilities, and ensured the removal of unsafe products from markets.
In Rustaq, 2,704 food inspections uncovered 78 violations, leading to the destruction of 359.8 kilograms of unsafe food and the closure of 15 establishments. A total of 287 water samples were tested, with 23% failing compliance standards, while 3,238 animals were processed at the local slaughterhouse.
Barka saw the highest activity, with 4,014 food inspections leading to 254 violations and the disposal of more than 2.5 tonnes of spoiled food. Seven establishments were closed, and 27,260 animals were processed. Meanwhile, 451 water samples were tested, 17% of which did not meet health standards.

In Al Musannah, inspectors carried out 3,247 food checks, identifying 101 violations and closing 37 facilities. Over 800 kg of unfit food was destroyed, while slaughterhouses processed 11,349 animals. Of 202 water samples, nearly 19% were found non-compliant.

Wadi Al Maawil: 566 food inspections, 6.6 kg of food destroyed, 8 water samples (23%) failed.
Nakhal: 741 food inspections, 48 violations, 37.6 kg of food destroyed, 7 closures, and 12,572 animals processed.
Al Awabi: 658 food inspections, 19 violations, 122.4 kg of food destroyed, and 1,777 animals processed.
Engineer Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Maawali, Director of Health Affairs, confirmed the campaigns are part of the 2025 regulatory plan to ensure safe and healthy products for consumers. He emphasized the municipality’s commitment to expanding inspections, raising public awareness, and supporting Oman Vision 2040’s focus on improving quality of life and public health.
