Salalah hosts 3rd International Nephrology Conference with 250 experts from Oman and other countries

The 3rd International Conference on Kidney Diseases and Transplantation opened today in Salalah, bringing together around 250 medical and paramedical professionals from Oman and abroad.

MUSCAT : Organized by the Omani Society for Kidney Diseases and Transplantation in cooperation with the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar, the three-day conference was inaugurated under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of senior officials and healthcare leaders.

In his address, Dr. Issa bin Salem Al Salmi, Chairman of the Omani Society for Kidney Diseases and Transplantation, underscored the growing burden of kidney failure cases in Oman and the need for continuous updates on modern diagnostic and treatment methods. He noted that over 25 international experts from 15 countries, alongside local specialists, would present research and insights during the sessions.

The conference agenda includes discussions on chronic kidney disease, innovations in early detection, pediatric nephrology, immunology, kidney transplantation, and the role of artificial intelligence in dialysis. Sessions will also address the achievements and challenges of Oman’s National Kidney Transplant Program.

In addition to lectures, the event features specialized workshops on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, an exhibition on the latest medical technologies, and a public awareness campaign at Grand Mall Salalah. A scientific competition will also showcase research from across Oman and abroad.
