MUSCAT : Oman’s expatriate community has grown significantly over the past year, with official data from the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showing an increase of 51,651 residents. As of September 2, 2025, the expatriate population stood at 2,307,040, compared to 2,255,389 on the same date in 2024.
This steady growth highlights the continued demand for foreign workers in sectors ranging from construction and services to healthcare and education. It also reflects Oman’s gradual post-pandemic recovery and economic expansion under Vision 2040, which is attracting more global talent and labour.
While the Omani citizen population registered a slightly higher increase of 54,915, the expatriate rise remains a critical contributor to overall demographic growth. The balance between nationals and expatriates continues to play an important role in shaping Oman’s labour market and social fabric.

According to NCSI’s demographic indicators, expatriate births recorded in July 2025 numbered 557, significantly lower than the 5,322 Omani births during the same period. Mortality figures showed 163 expatriate deaths in July, adding to a total of 1,119 deaths among foreign residents from January to July this year.
