Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry eyes business expansion with Al Buraimi development plans

The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in Al Buraimi Governorate, in cooperation with the National Program for Private Sector Development and Foreign Trade, organized a seminar on business sector development.

Muscat: The seminar opened with a presentation by Khalid bin Saeed Al Shuaibi, Head of the Nazdar program, who outlined the program’s achievements, including the launch of the National Investment Strategy, Invest Easy Lounge, the Investment Incentives Guide, and the Investor Residency Program. He also detailed initiatives to streamline foreign trade procedures and establish a national framework for trade growth.

Al Shuaibi emphasized Al Buraimi’s strategic advantages, such as its border location, proximity to regional markets, and potential in agriculture and mining. He announced that key projects are in the pipeline, including the much-anticipated railway project and the Al Rawdah Economic Zone, both expected to transform Al Buraimi into a regional hub for trade and investment.

The forum also discussed future opportunities in manufacturing industries, education, tourism, logistics, and retail, with an aim to diversify the local economy, add competitive value, and create quality job opportunities for the community.

Sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, the seminar was attended by officials and business leaders. His Excellency Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, stressed the importance of aligning development projects with Oman Vision 2040, fostering public-private partnerships, and encouraging long-term investment.

The forum also showcased ongoing projects under the Inma’i and Governorates Development programs, with more than RO 41.8 million allocated to 60 projects spanning infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, human capital, and the knowledge economy.
