Millennials are embracing artificial intelligence in the workplace more than any other generation, according to a new survey released by Slack, a Salesforce company.
The study revealed that one in three millennial workers (aged 28–43) use generative AI tools daily, while another 25% rely on them multiple times per week. Beyond frequent usage, millennials also demonstrate a greater understanding and trust in AI agents compared with their peers, leveraging the technology to boost productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and focus on strategic work.

Gen Z Close Behind
While Generation Z is not far behind millennials in adopting AI, much of their experience comes from personal and educational projects. Companies, the survey noted, have yet to fully benefit from Gen Z’s AI familiarity.
“Gen Z is using AI a lot for educational and personal projects,” explained Lucas Puente, Vice President of Research at Slack. “But when it comes to the workforce, they haven’t established the same level of comfort.”
Millennials as AI Mentors
With their deeper professional experience, millennials are well-positioned to guide Gen Z in using AI responsibly at work. Jenny Simmons, Vice President and Global Head of Enterprise Learning at Salesforce, said judgment is key.
“Team members need to understand which tools they should be using, where they’re allowed to put sensitive data into the system and where they shouldn’t,” Simmons said. “The cohort that’s been in the office for a while will know the types of outputs the company is looking for and how to check that against what things like AI agents are doing.”
Beyond AI: The Value of Networking
The survey also highlighted the importance of human collaboration alongside technology. Gemma Quinn, Salesforce’s Vice President of Global University Recruiting, stressed that younger employees must learn to network across departments to thrive.
“When you come out of university and into a large company, one of the first things you need to learn is why networking is so important,” Quinn said.
AI Won’t Eliminate Jobs
Despite anxieties, experts reassured that AI will not erase entry-level opportunities but rather reshape them. “AI will not eliminate entry-level jobs, but it will cause these jobs to evolve,” Quinn added. “Newly hired employees will be able to do a lot more than they could even a few years ago because of this technology.”
