MUSCAT – The case involved a consumer who had entered into a contract with an establishment engaged in contracting and building materials to construct his house, with a clearly defined completion date. However, the project experienced significant delays, prompting the consumer to file a formal complaint with the Authority.
Following the submission, specialised CPA teams investigated the matter and initiated communication with both parties. After a series of meetings and negotiations, a mutually acceptable agreement was reached.
Under the terms of the settlement, the establishment agreed to refund the amount of RO 1,031 for the portion of work that remained incomplete, to be paid in two instalments. The settlement also stipulated that the establishment would provide construction materials — namely sand and cement – in addition to carrying out some external wiring works on the property.
