MUSCAT – This marks the first such festival held after a gap of several years, and it brought together a large and diverse gathering.
His Excellency Juma Al Redha, former Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce Industry, graced the event as Chief Guest. Also in attendance were esteemed guests of honour, legendary Pakistani cricketer Syed Inzamam-ul-Haq, and renowned journalists Syed Talat Hussain and Asma Sherazi.
The festival drew a significant turnout, including senior Omani dignitaries, Muscat-based ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and a large number of Pakistani community members.
Highlights of the festival included a video showcasing the cultivation and harvesting of mangoes in Pakistan, as well as flute performances of popular Pakistani national songs by local artist Farhan.
During his address, the Ambassador emphasised that August 14th was an opportunity not only to celebrate independence but also to express gratitude for Pakistan’s fertile land. He praised the hard work of Pakistani farmers who transform this natural gift into highly sought-after agricultural products, particularly the “sweetest mangoes in the world.” The Ambassador expressed optimism that the festival would help introduce Pakistani mangoes to larger segments of Omani population and increase exports of to Oman.
