Passenger numbers at Oman’s airports reach 6.9 million in H1 2025, down 2.2%; Indian nationals top the list

The total number of passengers travelling through Oman’s airports — Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, and Duqm — reached 6,921,569 by the end of June 2025, marking a 2.2 percent decrease compared to 7,074,913 passengers during the same period in 2024.

MUSCAT : According to preliminary data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Muscat International Airport received 6,233,954 passengers in the first half of 2025, down 2.4 percent from 6,384,874 passengers in the same period of the previous year. The airport also recorded 44,743 flights, showing a decline of 6.9 percent compared to 48,052 flights by June 2024.

The number of passengers traveling through Salalah Airport increased by 4.5 percent until the end of June 2025, reaching 657,209 passengers, compared to 628,951 passengers during the same period in 2024. The total number of flights recorded a slight increase of 0.3 percent, reaching 4,526 flights, compared to 4,514 flights by the end of June 2024.

In contrast, Sohar Airport witnessed a sharp decline in passenger numbers by the end of June 2025, dropping to 336 passengers, compared to 31,203 passengers during the same period last year. The number of flights also decreased by 68.7 percent, reaching 84 flights, compared to 268 flights by the end of June 2024.

At Duqm Airport, the number of flights saw a slight decrease of 0.6 percent, with 306 flights recorded compared to 308 last year. However, passenger numbers rose modestly by 0.6 percent, reaching 30,070 passengers compared to 29,885 passengers at the end of June 2024.

Statistics also showed that Indians topped the list of nationalities with the highest number of departures and arrivals through Muscat International Airport, with a total of 193,183 passengers (79,424 arrivals and 113,759 departures), followed by Omani nationalities with a total of 135,093 passengers (62,476 arrivals and 72,617 departures), then Pakistani nationalities with a total of 48,733 passengers (23,247 arrivals and 25,486 departures).
