MUSCAT – The statement, shared as part of an awareness campaign, directly counters the notion expressed in a poster that read: “I will not donate blood except for money.” In response, the ministry, along with the Department of Blood Banks Services, underscored that blood is the gift of life and highlighted the humanitarian, religious, and social values behind donating without expecting any form of payment.

“Donating blood without compensation embodies humanitarian and religious values, and is a manifestation of social solidarity in society,” the Ministry stated in its message. It also clarified that, from an Islamic perspective, it is not permissible for a Muslim to accept material compensation for blood donation.

The MoH further noted that international health organisations advocate for voluntary and unpaid blood donation.
