Nawal bint Suwaid Al-Abri, Head of the Food and Agricultural Product Specifications Department, highlighted that the partnership with ISO is a cornerstone in Oman’s vision to build a knowledge-based economy. She praised the Oman ISO Membership Enhancement Team, formed in 2024, for executing an ambitious strategy to qualify national cadres, exchange global expertise, and promote principles of governance and sustainability.
From 2020 to 2024, Oman has made significant strides in standardization. In 2021 alone, 4,635 national standard specifications were adopted, with an additional 1,000 approved in 2024 to further boost product quality and export readiness. An electronic platform for product registration has also been launched, improving efficiency and access for businesses.
These initiatives fall directly in line with Oman Vision 2040’s priorities—promoting innovation, developing industrial infrastructure, enhancing local production, and removing technical barriers to trade, all while ensuring environmental and consumer safety.
