MUSCAT : The project, launched by the North Al Sharqiyah Municipality, will replace sections of the existing road that traverse rugged terrain and are frequently disrupted by valley floods. The new road is designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and year-round movement to and from Al Jarula.
Engineer Talal bin Bakhit Al Hajri, Head of the Maintenance Section on Deputation at the Projects Department, said the road will be realigned to run along the mountainside instead of crossing valleys prone to flooding. The construction includes drainage systems to divert water into valleys, ensuring long-term road durability in line with approved engineering standards.
The project spans 2.7 kilometers, with widths varying from 7 meters in narrow sections to 4 meters in more challenging terrain. It comes at a cost of RO 18,595.
