Oman’s Public Prosecution warns against stunt driving; offenders face 3-month jail term, RO 500 fine

The Public Prosecution in Oman has issued a strong warning to citizens and residents against engaging in stunt driving or drifting on public roads or in unauthorized areas.

MUSCAT – In a warning issued online, the Public Prosecution emphasised that such acts are considered criminal offenses under Omani law.


According to Articles 49/5 and 54 of the Traffic Law, individuals found guilty of this dangerous behaviour face strict penalties, including:


• Imprisonment for up to three months
• A fine of RO 500
• Or both penalties
In addition to imprisonment and fines, the law also allows for the suspension of the driver’s licence and the suspension of the vehicle’s operating licence (mulkia).
