MUSCAT – The CPA stated that its Directorate General in North Al Batinah mediated an amicable settlement between a consumer and a social media application that is specialised in vehicle sales.
As per the case details, the consumer had lodged a complaint after discovering that the vehicle delivered differed from the model agreed upon at the time of purchase.
Following the complaint, CPA officials summoned the seller for questioning. During the investigation, the seller admitted to commercial fraud related to the misrepresentation of the vehicle’s specifications. A full refund of RO 4,070 was agreed upon and returned to the consumer.
The CPA emphasised its continued commitment to resolving consumer complaints through amicable means while ensuring that businesses adhere to the Consumer Protection Law and regulations governing electronic transactions.

The Authority also urged all suppliers and service providers to honour their contractual obligations and maintain transparency in commercial dealings, especially those conducted online. The CPA reiterated that such measures are vital to building trust and protecting the rights of consumers in the Sultanate.
