MUSCAT : The visit underscored the municipality’s commitment to monitoring key national and environmental development initiatives.

During the visit, His Excellency was briefed on the latest construction and landscaping updates of what is considered one of the Sultanate’s most strategic eco-tourism and conservation projects. The Garden is notable for its rich scientific, environmental, heritage, and tourism value, bringing together the diverse natural environments, plant species, and trees native to Oman in one integrated location.

His Excellency also praised the efforts made by the teams working on the project, appreciating the institutional partnership between Muscat Municipality and the relevant authorities to enhance the infrastructure for sustainability projects and environmental awareness.

His Excellency highlighted the garden’s advanced stage of completion and affirmed that, once finished, it will be among Oman’s most prominent natural and cultural landmarks, attracting both residents and visitors interested in ecotourism, biological education, and heritage exploration.

The Omani Botanic Garden has become a centre of scientific research and documentation, with extensive fieldwork resulting in the collection and cataloguing of hundreds of native plant species. Notably, the garden has documented 20 plant species exclusive to Oman, underscoring the country’s unique biodiversity.

This visit aligns with Muscat Municipality’s broader strategy to support qualitative projects that enhance urban living standards and preserve the ecological heritage of the capital and the wider Sultanate.
