MUSCAT : The survey was conducted from July 20 to 24, aiming to support government planning and improve housing services through accurate, data-driven insights.
The initiative is part of NCSI’s ongoing efforts to support government entities with reliable statistics that inform better decision-making. The findings are expected to help policymakers better understand the current realities of social housing services, evaluate citizen satisfaction, and improve the quality of evidence-based government decisions.

Mahfouz bin Salem Al Mashrafi, Director of the Public Opinion Measurement Department at NCSI, stated that the survey focuses on assessing the quality and efficiency of various elements of the social housing program. These include construction quality, architectural designs, contractor performance, and the availability and efficiency of basic services and public facilities.
The survey also seeks to identify the challenges faced by citizens during both the application and post-application stages. It aims to gather input on preferred housing locations and sizes, access to basic services, and how well current eligibility and distribution criteria meet citizen needs.
Al Mashrafi explained that the survey targeted three categories of citizens across the Sultanate of Oman’s governorates: beneficiaries of the housing assistance programme, individuals eligible for the programme, and beneficiaries of the housing units. He noted that specific forms were used for each of the targeted categories.
