MUSCAT – Running through August 31, Ateen Square is designed as the centrepiece for this year’s seasonal festivities, blending family-oriented attractions with cultural showcases aimed at both local and international visitors.
The newly launched venue features a spectacular central stage modelled after Dhofar’s mountainous landscape, complete with laser projections, digital displays, and artificial waterfalls – forming a dramatic setting for nightly performances and special shows.
Among the main highlights is the largest inflatable amusement park, which includes massive slides, obstacle courses, and bounce zones, all under professional supervision to ensure a safe environment for children.
Surrounding the play areas, visitors can explore local crafts and products offered by Omani women entrepreneurs, including traditional perfumes, handmade garments, and incense—showcasing the region’s deep cultural roots and entrepreneurial energy.
The entertainment lineup has been significantly expanded this year, introducing international performances and interactive shows. Featured acts include the futuristic Galaxy Show, the kid-favourite Emoji Show, eco-friendly fireworks, drone light displays, and a thrilling Got Talent-style stunt performance blending athleticism with theatrical flair.
Visitors can also enjoy performances from a European carnival troupe, a traditional Mexican group, and UNESCO-recognized folklore shows, contributing to the venue’s increasingly global atmosphere. Themed parades such as the Balloon Carnival and Peter Carnival bring colourful characters and choreographed entertainment to the streets.
A major new addition this year is Culture and Literature Street, a creative space hosting live poetry reading, painting sessions, and writing workshops, offering visitors a chance to engage directly with Omani artists, poets, and authors.
