MUSCAT – The meeting focused on reviewing the latest updates concerning the implementation of decisions made during the committee’s second session. At the forefront of discussions was the completion of requirements for preparing the National Biotechnology Strategy, in line with the approved work plan. The committee also confirmed that all procedures for appointing a specialized consultant to support the strategy’s development have been finalized.
The tender for the consultancy assignment has been officially issued via the Authority for Projects, Tenders and Local Content’s electronic system, marking a significant step forward in the strategy’s execution.
Dr. Kawthar bint Ibrahim Al Balushi, Director of the National Biotechnology Strategy Project, delivered a comprehensive visual presentation during the session. She outlined the detailed implementation plan for the upcoming phase and highlighted the collaborative efforts of national teams and committees working on the project.
Coinciding with the committee’s third meeting, a ceremony was held to launch and sign a cooperation agreement to provide consultancy support for the development of the National Biotechnology Strategy. The agreement brings together three key stakeholders: the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, and Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO), the project’s funding body.
The cooperation program was signed by Her Excellency Dr. Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, His Excellency Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Head of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, and Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Farsi, Director General of Supply Chain, OMIFCO.
