MUSCAT : Stepping into his shoes is seasoned Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz, who has been appointed by the Oman Football Association (OFA) as the team’s new head coach.
Rashid Jaber expressed deep gratitude in a statement following the end of his term, thanking the nation and all those who supported him during a tenure marked by both challenges and triumphs.
“Thank you Oman, the beginnings, the present and the future,” he said, adding, “A heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared this journey with me, and to everyone who believed, supported and contributed to the distinguished work that was achieved in a very short period and under very difficult circumstances.”

Under Jaber’s leadership, Oman reached the Gulf Cup final and secured a historic qualification to the World Cup play-off stage—a first for the national team. “These are beautiful moments and milestones that will remain engraved in memory,” he noted.
Wishing his successor and the national team success, Jaber said, “All the best to my beloved country’s national team in the upcoming events.”
Taking over the reins is Carlos Queiroz, a veteran coach with extensive international experience, including stints with the national teams of Portugal, Iran, Colombia, and Egypt. His appointment signals the OFA’s commitment to building on the team’s momentum and preparing for future regional and international competitions.
