Muscat “Carpooling isn’t just about sharing a ride. It’s about sharing responsibility for cleaner environment, smoother traffic, lower costs, and stronger social connections,” stated the Municipality notice, with a poser: “Ready to drive change together?”
The Municipality highlighted carpooling as a sustainable and economically-efficient solution in the field of shared mobility. By reducing the number of vehicles on the road, carpooling directly contributes to a significant reduction in pollution, leading to improved air quality and a smaller carbon footprint. This also translates into a noticeable reduction in traffic congestion, resulting in faster and less stressful journeys for commuters.
The Municipality pointed out that carpooling promotes interaction between people who share journeys, fosters financial savings as the cost of transportation is shared, and helps alleviate the demand for parking spaces in urban areas.
