Muscat: The Ministry affirmed that intellectual property is a cornerstone of economic and scientific advancement, highlighting its role in supporting innovation and enhancing national competitiveness. It reported a sharp increase in the number of IP applications received by the National Intellectual Property Office between 2024 and the first half of 2025.
By mid-2025, Oman had recorded 1,253 patent applications, 19,884 trademark applications, 48 industrial design registrations, and 246 copyright applications. This surge reflects growing awareness around the importance of protecting creative and inventive rights, as well as the role of IP in advancing the business environment.
MoCIIP attributed this progress to collaborative government efforts to streamline processes through digital transformation, bolster legal and regulatory frameworks, and raise community awareness via educational initiatives.
