MUSCAT – The CPA explained that the consumer had purchased a new vehicle from a local automobile agency. However, upon receiving the car – despite it being under warranty – he discovered several defects inconsistent with its condition as a new vehicle. When he approached the agency seeking a repair, replacement, or refund, he faced repeated delays and unresponsiveness.
Accordingly, the consumer filed a formal complaint with the Authority, which undertook the necessary legal procedures and succeeded in reaching a settlement between the two parties. Under the terms of the agreement, the sales contract was terminated, and the agency agreed to refund the full purchase amount of RO 14,300, in addition to covering expert assessment fees.
The Consumer Protection Authority urges all suppliers to comply with the applicable laws and regulations governing consumer protection, and to fulfil their statutory obligations.
