Oman issues safety advisory ahead of Duqm rocket launch on July 5-6

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has issued a safety notice for sea-goers and fishermen in the Duqm area in light of a planned space rocket launch scheduled for July 5 and 6, 2025.

Muscat: The launch is being conducted in collaboration with Etlaq Company and the National Space Services Company (NASCOM).

According to the official advisory, all fishermen and maritime activity operators are strongly urged to avoid the designated area marked by specific coordinates from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025. The precaution is being taken to ensure public safety during the rocket launch operation.

The Ministry emphasized that this launch is part of the Sultanate’s broader vision to advance its capabilities in the field of space. The initiative aligns with Oman’s national regulations and international safety standards.

The Ministry also called on the public to comply with the safety instructions and avoid navigating through or entering the restricted zone during the launch window. The advisory is part of efforts to mitigate risks and ensure the safe execution of the launch.
