MUSCAT – The session featured discussions on challenges faced by the university, with a focus on Omanisation of teaching positions.

It explored several key issues, including the university’s new organisational regulations, which were compared with previous frameworks governing academic systems and student success metrics. Committee members reviewed how recent regulatory changes have impacted institutional performance and academic outcomes.

A major point of focus was the localisation of academic positions, with discussions centred on the effectiveness of Omanisation programmes in faculty roles and the educational bridging program. The committee examined how these initiatives are shaping the quality of educational outputs and contributing to the broader goals of enhancing school education in the Sultanate.

Additionally, the session highlighted statistical data on student admissions and withdrawals, with an analysis of underlying causes. It also delved on the extent to which the infrastructure, material, and technical resources align with the number of students enrolled in the colleges.

Members of the committee provided observations and recommendations to enhance UTAS’s development strategies, particularly in strengthening the replacement plans and improving the performance of Omani academic staff.
