MUSCAT – According to ROP, scammers are increasingly exploiting video calling platforms to impersonate police officers and government employees, often using fabricated usernames, fake email addresses (such as omanroyalpolice087@gmail.com), and even altered images of official uniforms or ID cards to appear legitimate.

These fraudsters pose as trusted sources to request personal or financial information or to threaten victims with false legal action – only to steal sensitive data such as bank details, ID numbers, or access codes.

“Do not share your personal or financial information before verifying the caller’s identity through official channels. Protecting your information…is everyone’s responsibility,” the ROP stressed, urging the public to remain vigilant and be suspicious of any unsolicited video calls or communications demanding personal or financial information.
