MUSCAT : The CPA’s complaints department facilitated the amicable resolution, securing a refund of RO 8,100 from the car dealership. The refund followed months of delays and unsuccessful attempts by the consumer to have the faulty vehicle repaired or replaced.
According to the CPA, the consumer reported that shortly after buying the new vehicle, it began exhibiting serious defects inconsistent with a car of its class and condition. While the dealership initially agreed to inspect and address the issue, repairs and communications were repeatedly delayed, prompting the consumer to seek intervention.
After receiving the complaint, CPA officials summoned the dealership’s representative, who acknowledged the defects and expressed willingness to cooperate. A settlement was reached, with the dealership agreeing to refund the full value of the car in exchange for its return.
The Consumer Protection Authority urges all service providers to adhere to transparency and credibility, avoid misleading or false advertising, and provide consumers with accurate information about the goods or services offered so that they can make an informed and free choice when purchasing or receiving services.
