Nizwa Industrial City attracts RO 28 million in new projects, expands sustainable growth in Oman

Nizwa Industrial City, under the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), continues to attract robust investment in 2024, localizing 19 new projects worth RO 28 million.

MUSCAT : In the first quarter of 2024, Nizwa Industrial City received 21 investment applications, of which 19 have been successfully localized. These projects span over 131,000 square meters and bring the total number of active projects in the city to 186, with a cumulative investment volume exceeding RO 504 million.

Currently, the city supports a workforce of 6,100 employees with an Omanization rate of 45 percent. Spread over a total area of 7.2 million square meters, the industrial zone is rapidly becoming a centerpiece for industrial growth in the Sultanate.

Eng. Ishaq bin Ibrahim Al Kharousi, Acting Director General of Nizwa Industrial City, highlighted the progress of the RO 1.2 million Madayn Complex project aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises. The complex will house 10 workshops and has reached 60 per cent completion by the end of Q1 2024.

Further developments include the initiation of consultancy studies for a new residential area and the preparation for comprehensive facility maintenance. The master plan for Phase 5 of the city, covering 4 million square meters, has also been finalized.

On the sustainability front, more than 1,700 trees currently grace the city, with an additional 600 planned for planting. So far, 670 trees have been planted and 200 distributed to companies in partnership with the Environment Authority. Several companies have also begun exploring solar energy solutions and investments in recycling industries focusing on aluminum and copper.
