MUSCAT : Spot gold inched up by 0.2 percent to settle at $3,245.01 an ounce, while U.S. gold futures climbed 0.3 percent to $3,252.00 an ounce. The uptick comes as the U.S. dollar index slipped 0.1 percent against major currencies, enhancing the appeal of gold for international buyers by making it more affordable in other denominations.
The market is now focused on the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting later this week, which could provide key signals on interest rate direction and inflation outlook—both significant drivers of gold’s performance.
Other precious metals saw mixed movements. Spot silver edged up 0.1 percent to $32.02 per ounce, while platinum dipped 0.5 percent to $954.88 and palladium eased 0.2 percent to $951.36.
