Muscat: Responding to a query on potential spying and the safeguarding of data privacy amid the introduction of Starlink services in Oman, Omar Abdullah Al-Qatabi, Vice President of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, stated firmly, “I assure you that your information and calls are within the Sultanate.”
Al-Qatabi clarified that Starlink was brought into Oman to support the country’s unique geographical needs, emphasizing that the partnership was carefully considered to benefit remote and underserved areas without compromising national security or user confidentiality.
Telecommunications Regulatory Authority also assured that they will launch a Commercial Caller ID project in the coming period to reduce fraudulent calls.
